The Paper Cirkus
The idea to depict the circus came from afar, from the desire to interpret a magical world par excellence. The fabulous Calder Circus was the first to enchant me many years ago. In 2011, the invitation to exhibit my sculptures in the foyer of the most beautiful Italian theaters which were to host Arturo Brachetti’s hilarious “CIAK SI GIRA!” show, confirmed that the time had arrived to get my little papier-mâché circus out there. In homage to the artist of a thousand faces, I wanted to play on the art of quick-change too by having fun while making double-sided sculptures. Six figures which actually hide fifteen characters among the most emblematic in the circus world.
